Hi can anyone tell me,I have a CD auto-changer for a car that suffered damage from a nasty spike.I've managed to fire it up and it works fine except for the Audio is DISTORTED!!I'm assuming a dead op-amp and can find no info on its chips.Could i test it with a simple Transistor amp.ie perhaps a single stage audio amp with an Emitter Follower?

Follow Ups:
You will have to figure out first that the distortion is coming from the output of the op amp or if the distored signal is being fed into the op amp. You may have to get a schematic diagram, most of the time thay will put a low pass filter on the output section using op amp and follow by a buffer op amp to drive the head unit in your car.

I don't own a scope,so its difficult to say.I just guessed the op-amp is dead,also volume is low.If a new chip can't be found,what can I do?
