I originally started messing with it (PS) when I noticed that it was humming (it previously had no problems). I saw that if I picked it up, it would stop...tilt it on its side...move a power cord etc..would stop...
My first temporary fix was to place it on a wood cigar box which was close by. --I listened... It seemed as though I could hear the box...not all good, but gave me the idea to try 'spiking' it.
--First track I played afterward was from a live acoustical set, and I noticed a big difference, even before the music had begun... the hollow sounds of chairs and feet being moved around on the stage... depth and focus that I did not have before...
I do think that it helped to just get the box off the carpet, but have to say there's more to it than static or deilectric...
