For very little money you can build a simple flexy rack ( in case you're not familiar with these, they offer flexible shelf configuration, not structural flexing). A properly constructed simple flexy rack will be stiffer than most of the commercial racks in the $300 range (at least the ones I've seen). All you need is some threaded rod, nuts, washers, and shelf material (I favor light stiff woods, such as birch ply, over MDF which is well damped, but not very stiff nor light). If you'd like more specifics on flexy rack construction, simply search the Tweaker's archives or reply here and I'll be happy to answer.-Pete

I thought about buying some 5/8" MDF and building one of those racks, but I need to fix my table saw first. The TNT website has some info on the project. It looks fairly simple to build and I think it could be done even with my lack of wood working skills...

Home Depot and stores like it will cut wood for you - usually for free, but if you need a lot of pieces they'll charge you a few pennies. Enjoy your new rack this weekend, not next!
That is something to look into, as my rack needs to go

You bet!I recently finished tweaking my CDP with an innertube style isolation device, a sandbox & a 10 lb. ankle weight on top. It definitely helped & the areas of improvement were more detail, more separation & cleaner sounding highs. I even noticed a slight improvement in bass response along with an increase in the soundstage depth. None of these changes were dramatic (like when I changed my speakers from Unity Audio Sigs to VR4 Gen III's) but were subtle yet noticeable.
The flexy rack has been on my 'to do' list for some time but I just can't seem to get around to it. My excuse this month is my hand is in a cast!
