I'm getting ready to try a shunt set up on my Decware Zen amp, probably using 47K tantalum resistors. Has anyone actually done this on their own volume control and if so were they happy with the results. What did they notice?
I tried the shunt mod on my Electronic Tonalities Foreplay amp. It was easy, and even with cheap metal film resistors, the sound is much, much more transparent and open than without the shunt mod. Gain is greater, too. No ill effects whatsoever. Can't wait to put some tantalum resistors in place of the el-cheapo metal films.
Would you give me some information on this mod? How can I apply it to my equipment?
Mike,I did this mod a couple of months ago following instructions I got from the Bottlehead discussion forum. I would direct you there for what's sure to be a more informed answer than I can give. In any case, it's very easy to do, I recall.
