  Start with the online application notes from TI, Maxim, Linear Technology, and National Semiconductor. You can get most of what you need from there.

  If not, there are a few good books, but depends on what you are trying to do.

  I gotta admit, power supply design can be fun. It's quite a challenge. More difficult than audio circuits.

    Actually, I have yet to run across a power supply book I like. Best so far is "High-Frequency Switching Power Supplies" by Chryssis.

    Hmmm, I'd like to understand both the theory and the practical end well enough to design and build my own as well as troubleshoot existing SMPS's. Absolute agreement that it's tougher than audio amps!!
