While making some RG-6 video cables yesterday evening, I managed to get a small piece of shield wire lodged in my left index finger. Even though a nub of wire was sticking out, I could not grasp the wire with tweezers. Today, the shield sliver was driving me nuts. In desperation, I coated the index finger with contact cement and let it dry thoroughly. When I peeled the cement off, the sliver came out!Disclaimer: I did this. I am NOT saying YOU should try it. Contact cement is NOT approved by the FDA for medical purposes or for use as a bikini wax.

I tried a do-it-yoursefl lobotomy procedure one time.Midway through the operation, I lost track of what I was doing.
If you have a piece of wire or anything small diameter and long embedded in your finger, gently scrape a blade across the fragment, windsheild wiper style, in the direction that the fragment points. The blade will catch and pull the sliver free. It's an old locksmithing trick to get brass filings from key machines out of your skin.
Alternatively, if the metal fragment is really small and deeply embedded, a doctor told me to push it deeper below the skin's surface and the blood in your tissue will dissolve (corrode) the metal and carry it away in your bloodstream.

I read recently in Nat. Geo. that elmers glue works great when trying to remove cactus stickes from ones flesh. Squirt it on, let it dry and peel.
.... my soldering technique (think of Peter Sellers trying to keep his arm down in "Dr. Strangelove) is getting at one of those pesky metal or Formica slivers with a razor knife!

Cuticle cutters work much better as tweezers than tweezers do.
Good thinking Dr. I would have sharpened the old exacto and gone fo blood the hard way. I will keep your idea in mind. Regards Moray James.

Yeah, could have used an exacto for DIY surgery, but I was sober at the time.
