Has anyone tried the Avatar 281 kit.Im looking for a shilded kit where the cabinets are less than 10 inches wide but the bass will go down to 30 and be clear not boomy and not use a sub,Thanks for your help Trent
I have heard the Avatar 281 kit at our audio club (Pacific Northwest Audio Society in Seattle, Wa.) In fact, Avatar brings their stuff in all the time! The 281 is built using their (as far as I know) custom built drivers. I ahve to say the sound is really excellent for a kit! I think people shy away from kits thinking the sound just won't be good. Of course, the box built around the drivers is very improtant, so hone up your cabinet skills. But the club really enjoyed the 281 kit. The 281 is voiced for home theater, so they've made some assumptions about the sound, but it's good. I think if you want it to be smoother (i believe there is a slight bump in the low end for "movie sound") you could probably call Avatar and see if they could suggest any crossover or cabinet changes.B
Thank,s Brian.Avatar said there ported design the 281 would go down to 30 hz.Do you thank I could get by without a sub with this kit.
