I built a pair of transmission line speakers using the J92X, and I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with the passive EQ suggested on the EJ Jordan page. They suggest a 2mH coil and a 4ohm resistor in parallel with the driver for use in the 12.5 liter cabinet design on their site. The problem is, the 12.5 liter design can be configured to be either vented or TL, so I'm not sure if the passive EQ circuit is recommended for the vented cabinet, the TL or both. According to the Jordan site, the EQ is supposed to yeild better bass and phase response at the expense of about 3dB in effeciency (OK by me). Anybody have any experience with this design? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks,
David

If I'm correct, the RC or RCL inseries can be used to give more bass by cutting frequencies from Mid and up.In Klang & Ton of september 2001 there's plan for making a speaker that radiates 360 degrees (excuse my english...), look at www. hifisound.de for Round About and you know what i mean!
In the same issue there's also a suggestion for installing the JX92S in a vented or closed box using a combination of RCL and RL inseries with the following values:R1 6.8R 10W
C1 22uF
L1 0.68mH/1.4mmR2 4.7R 10W
L2 1.0mH/1.4mmI have installed the JX92S in a 9 liter vented box with the above above values. I only have my ears to 'measure' and teh frequency reponse is even with a surprissing amount of bass (I will however also build the TL from Jordanspage).

P.S. Also check out the Jordan Horn at the mentioned website. Suggestion for a RCL in the horn is only to use the above mentioned R1C1L1

which is only dependent on baffle size and speaker placement, not bass loading. So it should work for both ported and TL.
So, since I'm using a cabinet design that's different from the EJ Jordan design (significantly smaller baffle), the recommended EQ circuit probably isn't necessary, right?

If you want a smaller baffle, the amount of BSC is even more. If you don't want BSC, use the wall as the speaker box (Infinite baffle).

Yes. . .what I meant was that the values recommended for the circuit on the Jordan site wouldn't apply to me. . .I'll have to figure out my BSC circuit myself.I just came across some good resources (t-linespeakers.org has several articles) on BSC. I'll read up and post again if I have any more questions.
the eq circuit is in series, not parallel. Sorry!
