I normally refresh and polish wood veneer with fine wire wool and polish. This gives a nice soft sheen.
I wish to do this with my horn cabinets, but the wire wool inevitably sheds iron dust, and I dont want this anywhere near my Lowther drivers even if I remove them during the work.
Has anyone any suggestions as to what I can use in place of wire wool.
Cheers

Yes, Scotch-Brite from 3M is good for this purpose. It is scratch-free. I use it to clean my cds with good result. I would suggest to keep separate ones for cleaning cabinet and cds.

Winnie:
Try bronze wool. It's available in a number of grades. Lots of sources on the net, although marine supply outlets usually have it.
Following up on Redwing's advice, those green scrubby things are actually available in various grits (all the way up to the equivalent of things like 000000 steel wool and beyond). A lot of real woodworking shops sell them in finer grades than the green (which is pretty coarse). I think the Woodcraft website carries them (woodcraft.com) as do places like the Woodturner's Catalog (woodturnerscatalog.com). Also places like suppliers to Luthiers have them for really fine polishing etc. But any good woordworking place will have them. The various colors denote the level of grit.Good luck
Those dark green scrubbies? We call them "greenie-weenies" in the Navy. They may be a little more coarse than steel wool though. I would think some sort of synthetic "wool" is made if you go to someplace like Home Depot.
