Hi John,Just seeing that name brings back memories of how I was bored to tears by the Intro. Solid State class using Kittel as the textbook;). Well, just kidding. Kittel is a very good intro book, and I guess that is why it is in its 7th edition.

Mine is the 5th edition..It should be required reading for all those who believe in the grain boundary/crystal size electron collision making noise claptrap. Oh yes, also wire directionality..Who thinks these things up??
It would then be clear that the grain boundary collisions they speak of are 7 to 8 orders of magnitude below normal resistive collisions.
Oh yah, bored me to tears also..Back in '74.

We cannot allow that to happen, can we?
