I have an ASL AQ1003 integrated tube amplifier that I would like to replace the standards diodes with FREDs. The FREDS I have are rated at 8amp, 600volts. The output of the bridge rectifier is 410volts. Am I cutting it a little to close or are these fine to use?
Follow Ups:
If you are producing 410 V out you need at least 820 V peak inverse voltage (PIV) rating which these FREDS will not do. Get diodes rated at 1000V for your application so you have some margin.

Crank it up...

He can use two diodes in series, then he has a 1200 volt "FRED". That's all the 1200 volt version is anyway - two diodes in one package.

Try the HiPerDYN rectifiers (sp)

Thanks for the information. I have just found some rated at 1200V/6amps. The problem is they are so large that I don't know if they are going to fit. I will tear the amp down and try to squeeze them in. Thanks again for confirming what I suspected on the FREDs.
