5/8 all tread rod eh? Hmmmmm I am currently building a corner audio rack and when I looked into rod even the 3/4 seemed a bit whimpy to use. I went with 1 inch rod and it currently is in the chrome shop.

I was also concerned about this a while back. My friend, who is a structural engineer laughed at me. He said that that 5/8" threaded rods would hold up an automobile engine if braced correctly. The one I built for the bedroom a while back works great. I even put a 200 plus pound TV on it was fine.
In the latest Audio Advisor or Music Direct Catalog, I see one which looks like it uses 3/8" threaded rods or smaller.
