Hi
I want to use bypass capacitors in the power supply of my old bryston 4b amplifier. The supply has 2 ROE 10,000uf 80V filter capacitors per side. Are the filter capacitors rated for ACV or DCV?
Any help would be much appreciated!

Those are DC caps. While they can suffer a few volts of charge-discharge ripple, AC may explode them.

Hi Tiny Daddy
Thank-you for your response! Last question! Are caps rated for dc volts suitable for filter capacitor bypass? I am just making darn sure that I don't blow myself up or worse yet my amp AGAIN!
Yes filter capacitor bypass caps are rated for DC, just don't use them on the AC mains, what kind of trouble have you been having please tell me.

Hi Tiny Daddy
Thanks again for the info! My amp is working perfect at the moment.I have read alot of posts on tweakers asylum about the benifits of bypass caps in the power supply of amplifiers and wanted to iron out a bit of confusion that I had with voltage ratings. In the past I have jumped into projects with out asking questions & almost all have ended up at the Tech to be fixed.
