I want to get rid of the old big walmart entertainment center and go with the flexi type table.OK heres the problem.I have a 31 inch very heavy tv and i was thinking about doubling up on the MDF on the shelf that holds the tv as well as using 4 legs and metal washers for support. The 2 outside extensions will hold the sound equipment and be attached to the tv stand at 2 points(using rubber washers) and have 1 leg on the outside and not be connected directly the the shelves that carry the tv.Will i need to support the tv beyond the doubled up MDF?I really dont know the side load capacity of mdf.
thanks
ron

This is the same thing I posted for the thread above but it applies here even more:I tried somthing that worked very well for me with heavy equipment. Both MDF and particleboard are very hard but not at all strong(they will crack easily). In my sandwich design I used 1 piece of regular (both sides good) plywood, which is very strong - won't crack easily, with the top half being the MDF for rigidity. This gave me a shelf that was both strong and hard.
