I previously posted this on the cable forum but thought this might be a better place for it so here goes:
I would like to reterminate my M1000 ICs. This seemed like a pretty easy, straightforward job till I saw the cable construction with it's individually fiber-wrapped wires. Do I have to unwrap each little wire or will the fiber burn away as it's being tinned?

I did it by cutting the fiber/plastic string out....
