Thanks for the help if you can reply to this. I have an old but very nice (heavy sucker!) Yamaha CA-1010 integrated amplifier that uses a mechanical system (a relay switch?) for power-on delay (for speaker protection?). Normally, when you turn the power on it takes a few seconds before a mechanical "click" is heard, then sound is there. Now, when I turn the power on it clicks and clicks and clicks for up to a few minutes(!), then finally it "connects" then the sound is heard. What's wrong and how much should I expect to pay to repair this? Can I buy the part and replace it myself?Thanks, again.
I seem to remember that there is a capictor in the power-up circuit on the relay.. if this is going south, then it could be causing this instability, get your meter out, and a god schematic, and the guys in Vintage will be able to help no doubt!Hth
