Anybody tryed to apply additional earthing to the amp's chassis? (A good earth gives cleaner bass and better soundstage). If yes, where to attach the earth? I'm considering to use additional earth spike.
Follow Ups:
Yes, I have.Disclaimer:-
The caveat is DO NOT DO THIS with equipment that is not DOUBLE INSULATED - basically if you do, you foul up the equipment earth per the other posters article, and if you do not know how to check this, then proceed no further.Sonics of the arrangement:-
Sonically, this has an inetersting effect, but not one I could live with. Basically it produces a faraday cage around the equipement - as it sounds like its been put in a cage too - bound, constrained. Very boutique hi-end, but completely unsatisfying. Now the image depth/width and placement improved. Building a power conditioner gave all of the pluses of the cage, but no 'caging' of the sound, or the possibility of a compromised equipment earth or safety.
2nd Disclaimer:-
You do this entirely at your own risk (I cannot stress this too strongly, as we are dealing with LETHAL mains voltage), not recommended.Owen
Here is a post from the archive that explains why you don't want to use an additional ground rod.
It would appear that you are in the UK? You may have to translate the particulars, but the principal is the same.

The only "ground" I've found to matter is the one inside each component and the one which may be tying together the ground references of two or more components. What's important is that barring transformer isolation they all effectively reference the same point. Doesn't matter if that point is stuck in the dirt or stuck in your ear.

Hi Steve,
There was a post a while back that pictured a very handy portable grounding device. It was a clay flower pot full of "earth" with a ground rod inserted and your choice of foliage. Lost the link though.
