Thinking of using Canare 4S11 Quad Star speaker cable (4 x 14 AWG) as a 2-prong power cord (wired star quad) to replace the cheap zip cord hardwired to a NAD integrated amplifier...Any thoughts?
Follow Ups:
The insulation on the cable may be a problem......better use a mains specified cable and any of the recipies available, TNT, Alan Malher etc.
As in melting and/or shock hazard? There is no real difference between the insulators in speaker cables and AC cords. The big difference is that AC wire is tested and UL approved. There are a lot of folks who use Kimber 8TC as power cord and report it as safe. BTW, I have used Monster XP (16 AWG) speaker cable as zip cord replacement for years with no problem.
