Thanks for all the great info :) I've successfully disassembled the CD4000. Still could not access the clock tho ... I didn't have the proper torx screw to remove the screw near the tray motor.I've done the opamp swap as well but used the OOPA2134 instead. For some reason the OPA2604 is oscillating in my player ... harshness during high frequency notes that sound a little like clipping. I think its cos my AC mains are kinda of crap.
So far I've only done the opamp swap ... pretty impressed with the results that I've now gone "TWEAK CRAZY". I'm thinking of putting in a Trichord Clock 2. They claim that they have specific intructions for the CD4000. I'll be keen on any tweak as long as I have the proper instructions. Whats this kwak clock you're talking about ... is it something like Guido Tent's XO clock? Do they have installation instructions for the CD4000? Tell me more :]

Jkeny:I've went thru the url you gave me. Very interesting ... especially the bit on changing electrical components in the CD4000. Do you have any recommendations on what sort of parts to use. Eg. The website recommends that we change 220pf caps near the opamp to 470pf polystyrene versions but it did not list the voltage rating we should use? Whay are the parts you used for your cd4000? Thanks
I used polystyrene from RS components can't remember the make - voltage for all polys is about > 100V I think?Elso Kwak has a schematic for a low jitter clock which will use ur existing quartz clock on the transport. He will e-mail u schematic - much cheaper than other options.
Here are 2 URLs of interest . The first(in French) with some measurements on the tweaks - my babelfish translations are not that clear and sometimes it is confusing but I believe there are 2 mods
- replace 47uF output Caps with 5uF bypassed with 150nF
- take out all mute transistors on output
(I implemented these - good results - careful the pcb tracks are delicate for desoldering & resoldering)The second URL - a complete discussion on CD723 mods (u will need to register at delphi forums to access)- only problem is it's in French - do you parlez?

Jkeny:Thanks a lot for all the help :) Very much obliged.
BTW do you have Elso Kwak email? Or if you already have the schematic could you email it to me. Thanks
