Can you just pull them out? I want to try pulling my op-amps out and pulling contact cleaner on the pins, then pushing them back in. Will this be ok?
Follow Ups:
You can if you take care in pulling them out not to bend the pins or put strain on the body(could break an internal connection). If you can slip a flat blade screwdriver on one end and pry SLIGHTLY. Go to the other side and pry SLIGHTLY on that side. Continue slowly rocking back and forth until chip comes free. Observe orientation of chip, so upon reinsertion, it is not reversed. Be careful reinserting and make sure pins go into correct slot and are not bent. I had an equipment modification go to the field and the tech smashed the pins inserting the chip and wondered why the mod didn't work. I generally use a chip extraction tool, but they are pretty pricey for something you use only once in a great while.
