What is it/...and where can I purchase enough to make DIY speaker cables
For sepcific Belden part numbers (which should be usable to cross to another brand) with the right materials, see my DIY Speaker Cabel note, URL in this boards FAQ section.

Hi. Here's a link for my version of DIY Cat5 speaker cables.
http://www.msu.edu/user/churches/chrisvh.htm#speaker
It also includes a link to a list of retailers that sell by the box. Jon Risch has stated that it is sold by the foot at TechAmerica. Make sure you use the TEFLON insulated stuff, and also make sure that the conductors are NOT tinned, but bare copper. Good luck
CAT 5 is Category 5 network cabling, the wire you use to connect PC's and terminals on a LAN together. It has an RJ-45 jack that is similar to a phone jack (except wider a little) to make the connection between a router and your ethernet card on your PC/laptop.
There are many sources for this but I believe you should be getting specific CAT 5 wire as not all are the same.
Jon Risch should be along any day now to post some information on this.
