The B&W CMD1 doesn't sustain the Helmholtz resonant frequency like most do. This is what the straws' chief forte is mean to prevent.
can someone explain please ??
the tuned f v of the port. The acoustic suspension inside the box assists your driver's suspension (spider) & raises the raw driver's resonant frequency f s to f b . Then, the port matches the same tendency, only out of phase which suppresses the total instability. The problem is that front firing ports have a tendency to linger @ f v which is more than audible to an audiophile it's unnatural.
