You are correct, the chips are PCM63s...I was going on my memory and have too many numbers jiggling around in my brain.The Sowters look exactly like the ANs, even down to the wiring! That's about all I can tell you.
Can you tell me why AN uses the filter? Seems unnecessary to me.

I doubt that AN makes their own Cores or Mu Metal Can's.... Nor do I think Sowter does.... So there is a good chance that both the Mu Metal Can's and the cores are from the same OEM supplier....
Or maybe AN has somehow switched to the Sowter recently?

Not really. I know only the actual design from the DAC 4, which specifies a Filter and Itnterstage transformer. Further do I have copies of the original patent from Audio-Note describing the Circuit, including values....
