Let me clarify what I mean. My preamp has only one set of RCA jacks that allow me to plug my amp into. Now I want to make an extra set of jacks that allows me to plug another amp or my sub-woofer into it. To do this, I am thinking about solder two wires directly from the current set to a set of RCA jacks that I don't use (I will disconnect the current wiring from these jacks of course). Thanks.Tim.
Assuming your preamp tolerates the "low" impedance load that driving 2 or more components creates, leave the internal wiring alone. Purchase a pair of high quality gold plated all metal "Y" connectors (1 male to 2 female). Insert the connectors into the line out jacks on the preamp and connect the cables driving the power amp and woofer to the adaptors.

I thought about that but thinking hard wire will give better sound??? Thanks.Tim
If no "gremlins" get into the box, hard wiring rates to be a little better. When you do drastic "surgery" of the type you are considering, ground loops, oscillation, etc. can enter the picture. OTO, quality adaptors from Vampire, Monster, etc. treated with ProGold or other good contact enhancer will come quite close to hard wired without the risk.

I've got you. Thanks much for the great advise.Tim.
