I live in an apartment in Manhattan and I just purchased the big VMPS RM40's. Unfortunately, my walls are paper thin. Most of my listening is around the 80-85db range but I know I am going to want to crank them up a bit especially when I first get them.I have a good relationship with both of my neighbors and we have an understanding. But, are there any good non permanent way of acoustically isolating my room? Also, I have gone to a great deal of decorating my room with nice furniture, art, etc so it can't be totally tacky. A room treatment that you could put up only when listening might be a good option.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Josh

Think air seal/islation, rather than insulation or absorbing.Air leaks and very thin surfaces are the worst culprits, as are heating/cooling ducts, etc.
Not a lot you can do that is not permanent, expensive, and somewhat futile.

Nothing short of a complete rebuild of your walls, doors and ceiling will help.Best bet? Buy some excellent headphones.
