I'm thinking about trying some, but I'm wondering if it's worth it.
The music matters more than the equipment!

All I ask is for a chance to prove that money can't make me happy.
... but it wasn't my intention to to be rude to the person who asked the question - they asked for opinions and got an honest one. There is no end of sensible tweaks and modifications with which the interested audiophile can occupy themselves. Changing a resistor or capacitor to a slightly different value, substituting high quality attenuators for run-of-the-mill volume pots, replacing internal wiring, replacing interconnects, varying isolation or equipment supports, etc, etc, etc.
All of these can lead to perceived differences in performance - some subtle, some obvious - and even the more debatable tweaks can be supported by some appeal to sound engineering principles.
Then there is the realm of make believe: amber necklaces, rainbow foils, etc. Heck, you may as well wave a dead chicken at the stereo while chanting the Radiotron Designer's Handbook backwards for all the good they do.
I'm no closed-minded objectivist, quite the reverse as you'll see if you look at any of my previous posts to these fora, but there are some things that are so patently silly (and a waste of money that could be far more wisely invested) that newcomers need to be warned off straight away. Let's respond to these absurd concepts with the laughter they so richly deserve and get on with listening to music.
Cheers

Groman, save yourself the pain of humiliation by learning first, and making technical suggestions later. Gold is a good covering for materials, BUT it is a lousy conductor.

Izzat stuff delivered to your house by a regiment of Beefeaters? Do you put it on top of your 'speakers, under your front end or wear it on your head while you listen to "Gladiator"?oh man...
Pure and simple. If its mass loading it can be achieved with far cheaper materials. But given the color / alignment fetish there is more going on here than that - at least in the minds of it's advocates.
That's where my post header comes into play....

I usually stay away from the tweak of the day threads, but I have to say that this is one of the most insanely ridiculous things I've ever seen. Certainly worthy of the first folder in the "give me a break" file.
don't know if I could live down my equipment adorned with amber jewelry?
Next thing ya know.... they'll be pushing using pearls for isolation or diamonds for cone tips... Wonder what rhinestones could do for a system???PS
If you ever give your system a pearl necklace it's time to step back and re-evaluate things. But to each his own.
