Thanks for the info. I remember reading somewhere that a particular combination gave great results. It involved shifting the crossover frequency and maybe even changing the slopes to higher-order, though I'm not sure. It is supposed to tame the forward-ness of the Al tweeter and warm up the midrange.Anyway, I'll keep looking. Thanks,
Chris
Follow Ups:
hello,if you are able to, measure the l-Pad values on the tweeter, go to a tweeter L-Pad calculator page (do a search) and experiment with dropping the entire tweeter range a few dbs. you'll need to know the driver ohm values as well to carry out this tweak.
I did this mod some time ago with the 1.5's, but don't remember the values I used, nor do I have the speakers around anymore to help out. I DO remember that I dropped the value 2-3 db's and that really helped out the clinical sound. a warm midrange you may never get with these speakers. you will get a very clear picture of the music though. you could try replacing or bypassing the caps with paper-in-oil caps as well. the paper cone woofer is pretty detailed as well, and you may want to consider replacing the inductor. i'd go with the caps+resistors first though as they are easier to play with and may just be enough.
good luck,
chiggy
