Hi Bill,I don't have a DACT but I use Shallco switches with Holco H8 resistors in a true ladder configuration. I agree with the comments made by other inmates.
When swapping from cermet potentiometers to such attenuators, you will have the impression that a screen is suddenly removed from the picture. You will hear sounds you have never heard before; the stereo image will become very accurate, pinpoint 3D imaging as some would say; the dynamics will be better than ever; bass will get tighter as well; you will have a substantial gain in ambiance.
On the other hand, it might unveil weaknesses you were previously unaware of. Should you listen to a poor recording, you will know it for sure...
At first, it will be a shock. You might perceive this "clean" sound as brightness. As your ears will get used to it, you will then realize that you simply hear more music! This is probably THE most significant upgrade you can achieve with a single modification.
