I modified my CDP .3 with an LClock and new analog output stage from LCAudio. Both improved the sonics of the player significantly and were fairly easy to do.

Hey there Bob,...... Thanks for your response. I know you said that the upgrade were fairly easy, but, I haven't touched a soldering iron in over 25 years (u,s, army). Do you think I'll have much trouble? What level of support can I expect from LCAudio? I noticed that the CDP.3 isn't on their list. Is that a signifigant obstacle? Sorry about all the questions, but I do appreciate your post
Thanks Again..Julien Therrien
Hi Julien; The LCAudio support was great but by email only. I never did anything like this before a year ago either. I first upgraded my Rotel 971 with LClock and ZapFilter and separate power supplies and it took a week of daily emails till everything worked perfectly. The upgrades sounded sooo good that I then did the same for my Classe CDP.3 I would say that the upgrades were not that difficult, but they should be done in 2 stages, first get the LClock working and live with that modification and make sure it's OK (you'll notice a substantial improvement in sonics). Then install the ZapFilter or new Analog Devices OPAmps.
I took closeup digital photos of the CDP.3 and sent them to Lars at LCAudio so he could help me with the install and get the right clock speed. I would suggest that you do the same ... it makes it alot easier.
Good luck,
-Bob
