A bass trap should be sufficient to do this properly, IF the trap was built correctly.See:
Common Problems In DIY Bass Trap Construction:
http://www.AudioAsylum.com/audio/tweaks/messages/29191.htmlOne way to "fix" bad traps, without re-building them, is to cut a hole in the top or bottom lid, and add fiberglass to them, essentially filling them almost all the way up with fiberglass.

Follow Ups:
I believe that I did build my trap correctly. When performing a MATT test, it does show some improvements. My only question to myself is the polyester batting that I used. It was advertised as "high loft" batting. I compressed it to 2 lbs/sq ft.
Hi-loft is the correct kind, and the density is OK (a bit high, but OK). The only thing then would be air leaks.Jon Risch
And what is the indication that a tube trap is "bad" ?
