My system is as follows:Source: Sony SCD-1
Preamp: Sonic Frontiers Line 1
Amp: Threns TTA-2300
Speakers: Joseph Audio RM25Si
Interconnects: AudioQuest Viper
Speaker Cables: Transparent Plus Biwire
Rack: QS&DI'm considering the following tweaks: (i) Rollerblocks for the SCD-1; (ii) Tube Dampers for the Line 1; and (iii) sand-filling the Josephs. What would people recommend as additional isolation for the Line 1 and the Thorens Amp? I have a suspended wood floor, so vibrations are an issue, I suspect.

It will take about 22lbs of sand to fill the cavity in each RM25si. The effort is well worth it. Be very careful with closing off the ports, cleaning up the sand and dust, etc., when you do it. The veneer will scratch if you're not careful.

Thanks! I just spoke with Jeff Joseph, who gave me very detailed instructions. The speakers sound great as they are, so I can't wait to hear the difference.
I agree with seismic isolation. That and upgrading power cables in my system made the biggest difference. Both of these items can be bought or made easily.
In my experience, a combination of vertical vibration isolation (air bearings) and horizontal vibration isolation (roller bearings) consistently works sonic wonders.Note: If the air bearing is to accomplish what you want it to, inflation must not exceed the point where you get a VERY slow "bounce" after pushing down on one corner and releasing. The goal should be less than one bounce per second or as close as you can get. If you need to lower the resonance, i.e. slow the bounce, try adding mass to the platform, either atop the component itself or next to it. (A rate of more than a few bounces per second won't work very well as an isolator but will artificially add "bottom" due to the resonance being to close to those frequencies we are concerned with for audio.)

Andrew, No one can predict what you will like the best, only you can answer that. You will have to experiment, my suggestion is: change only one thing at a time. If you don't like it, you can undo it. If you do like it, great, move on to the next component. Keep an honest perspective - if after x # of hours of work you listen and don't like it, admit it and undo what you did (this is, for me at least, one of the hardest parts of tweeking).Now some IMO comments: I don't like tube dampeners, must have spent 2 or 3 hundred dollars on Top Hats too. They kill some of the "air," Oh well it was an expensive way to realize that some resonance is desirable - part of tuning your system I guess. The only way you will know is to try yourself. Different cones sound very different (Black diamond rc vs. DH cones for example).
The Line1? maybe you could start with a $5 inner tube inflate it very slightly, enough to suspend the component, and give it a listen. Funny thing, I like the tube under my PH3 phono stage, hate it under my AIM3a. I think you will find less of an impact isolating your amp than your preamp.
BTW - thanks, at least you didn't start your message with: "whats the best xxx for isolation?" About all those posters are doing is taking a poll, I don't even respond to them anymore.
ANything that's tubed seems to respond well to some kind of isolation (i.e. squash balls, vibrapods, etc.). Anything on a wood floor is subject to vibrations. Adding something with mass under them usually helps (i.e. granite or marble slab, sand isolation base - aka seismic sink, etc.). Under the SCD-1 put a butcher block shelf, then use the rollerblocks under that.Enjoy,
