In a Power cord using the Pass & Seymour 5266 plug, can the wires be soldered to the clamp pins for best connection and sound? The clear, plastic housing seems to block any attempts at soldering.
Follow Ups:
Tighten the wires in the clamps, take out the square screw in the clear polycarbonate and pop off the yellow or gray cap.....Solder away using a big iron (60w or so) and replace cap and screw....
Bob,You have been doing this so many years I think you underestimate the difficulty of doing this for the first time. If you heat the thing too much you will not be able to get the end cap back on the plug. The Lexan deforms from having that much heat on it and you can quickly make a mess of it. It is doable but like Bob say, have a big iron and get in and out quickly.
Kevin, this does get a bit easier with practice and it is the reason it was not part of the original recipe.....The 60w iron with a big chisel tip does this in a few seconds, but some use the silver epoxy Chris posted above with good results....
