I read a post recently that running pink noise thru IC`s and speaker cables for 72hrs continuous would burn them in sooner. Has anyone here ever heard of this are better yet tried it? I would like to break in some new HT Truthlinks and was just curious.
350 degree oven for 30 minutes...no, that's to bake... Anyhow try a cd that features the sound of crashing surf. There are several to choose from, but all will work due to the nature (no pun) of the random wide-band frequencies found in a recording of the surf/ocean. Sounds better in the background too!
Pink noise is how I burned in all of my cables. It does work, but some times requires more than 72 hours. Though, I would not even attempt critical listening before 70 or so hours.
I used one track off of my son's nastiest rap cd, played it once and BINGO, those cables were screaming for mercy.
Actually, I thought HT's cables required minimum break-in time, less then 20 hours isn't it?John
Yes, thats what HT claims however I`ve read several reviews where it took at least 100hrs before you could hear depth in soundstage, who knows for sure. Has anyone else here have much experience with Truthlinks?
Bob, I've got Truthlinks as ICs, Pro-9 Plus speaker cable and Pro-Silway II phono cables. The Pro-Silway takes the longest; the Truthlinks blew away the Purist they replaced right out of the box. Plenty of depth after 24 hrs use. The only copper I've heard that's comparable in sound (but still not as good) is the XLO Signature series, and they do take quite a while to run in.
I'm running Truth Links and Silway MKII's, and to be honest Bob, I'm one of those rare birds that just listened to music for a break-in. I did a tube change during the break-in period, so I have no idea if the cables improved during that time. They sure sounded good from the start. These were the first cables, in my short time back to this hobby, that I actually heard a difference. Surprised the hell out of me.John
Yes, it will work quite well. personally, I use ocean, since i cant stand to listen to pink noise for very long.
enjoy,
Jack
