Brent,As Stephen says, you can solder and unsolder connections many times, so long as you're careful.
Two suggestions: If the connections are large tabs, the solder wick may take longer to soak up the solder, allowing more heat to poss. damage the tab / VC leads. Use some 000 steel wool (small ball of it) w/ some rosin flux dabbed into it. Hold it w/ tweezers against the joint then quickly heat. The steel wool will soak up lots more solder than the wick, thus, faster desoldering and less heat damage.
Two, if you're going to be taking the speakers apart many many times, why not just use slip-on connectors until you get the results you're looking for (ie; damping, etc) then snip off the connectors and solder the wires on permanently.

Stephen who? I'm Æ, not æ!
I would not use steel wool near a speaker driver because the magnet might pull some slivers of it into the cone or spider.
AE,Sorry, got you confused w/ another inmate.
Good point about the steel wool near the driver, I forgot to mention to cover the back of the driver (front too) w/ plastic wrap. Keeps nasty junk of all types away from the magnet / voice coil / mag gap.
