I was reading through some old Audio Annual Equipments Directories, and found an ad in the back for active bass traps. If I remember correctly the company was Phantom Acoustics. Does anyone have any experience with the product or even remember the company?

This was a phantom Nelson pass company, marketing a patent of Nelson. An excellent product, reviewed in Stereophile in the '80s.
It was kind of a double anti-subwoofer with one (?) microphone, placed in the corner. The high percentage of standing waves in the corner was used to selectively cancel them out, just by acoustical (mic&) negative feedback.
It is not produced anymore. Nelson probably was too early. Or lucky, because the people that would have placed their HT-subs in the other corner might have returned a few broken (Phantom Acoustcs) Black Shadows, because they'd overworked when showelling back what was put in at the other corner...
never heard of them, but it sounds intriguing-anybody know anything about their construction? could they be out of phase resonators?
Almost any 8",any condenser mic,any 25w power module, could be made to work.
