It's not so unusual to use a more readily available 500mA fuse rather than a 200mA fuse.

What is usual or unusual is not the issue. The designer calculated for a 200ma fuse, not a fuse 2.5 times that current rating. Your example states that the 200ma fuse would be ideal. If 500ma would work as well as a 200ma fuse for protection than why would anyone use a 200ma fuse? It's not all that unusual for people to believe that the sun revolves around the earth. Apparently 26% of people in the US believe it. I could come up with one or two more examples of irrationality if I thought hard enough. Tweaker456

Give it a rest. You can beg to disagree with anything you wish to, but there is no great rule being broken that deserves your complaint to the moderator.
