T 200mA, 250V
to use in a preamp?
Follow Ups:
I've several Synergistic Research orange fuses and find the affect well worth while. Not cheap but they are effective.

The simple calculation is watts divided by volts equals amps. After you have calculated this, it is a simple case of adding around 10% to the value and choosing the ...

Try this entry-level audiophile fuse made in Taiwan as a baseline for comparison.
The 500mA fuse is close enough for your application.

I've indeed seen a handful fuses on Ali that seem interesting, but I'm afraid of putting a 500mA fuse when a 200mA is required...
The fuse value for a low-current device such as an audio preamplifier is not necessarily written in stone. Fuse values of less than 500mA for an analog device such as a preamplifier seems unusually low. Concern about safety or damage to the circuitry caused by a 300mA gap is a non-issue in this case, IMO. I wouldn't suggest doing so unless I would also do it for my own wants/needs, KanedaK. Perhaps another AA Inmate will toss-in their own 2 cents.
The designer of K's pre amp more than likely did the standard type calculation for the fuse. There are safety reasons for this and I know of no reason that these standard type calculations do not apply to a low current device and it seems to me, unless the designer made a mistake that putting in a fuse 2.5x higher rated than the person smart and well trained enough to design a commercial pre-amp would not be too kosher, unless I'm missing something.

It's not so unusual to use a more readily available 500mA fuse rather than a 200mA fuse.

"Look at the 20VA transformer in the table. Short circuit current is just over 2A, and full load current is ~170mA. This ideally requires a 200mA fuse, although a more readily available 500mA fuse will work."

What is usual or unusual is not the issue. The designer calculated for a 200ma fuse, not a fuse 2.5 times that current rating. Your example states that the 200ma fuse would be ideal. If 500ma would work as well as a 200ma fuse for protection than why would anyone use a 200ma fuse? It's not all that unusual for people to believe that the sun revolves around the earth. Apparently 26% of people in the US believe it. I could come up with one or two more examples of irrationality if I thought hard enough. Tweaker456

Give it a rest. You can beg to disagree with anything you wish to, but there is no great rule being broken that deserves your complaint to the moderator.
I would not waste my money or risk my equipment on such dreams-

the Quantum Audio Fuses are amazing..have tried 4 of the 'yellow ' fuses and will be upgrading all of them within 30-60 days with full refund.they are great.
on clearance at Partsconnexion (link below).
I've found noticeable improvements over stock fuses and the price is nice.
Cheers!

Thanks, that's very cheap, I've ordered one! :-)
Hopefully you didn't order a fuse 2.5 times the current rating that the designer of the amp calculated for safe operation.

My audiophile friend Joe turned me on, to the HFT Silverstar. If anything, he undersold it. Whether used in a preamp or other electronic component, the HFT Silverstar is very good, at maintaining image focus, resolution, treble extension, and speed with control.
My Simaudio gear uses small, slow-blo, 0.2A fuses. I do have other after-market fuses, including HFT's. But the Silverstar consistently makes the others sound technicolored, bloated, unsure, and missing the mark.
Ditto on the synergistic orange, jaw dropping good.
If you don't want to spend the money, try the new Quantum Science Fuses from tweek geek. the enry level is $28 and they have a trade up policy, so if you like what you hear you can return it and apply the money towards the more expensive fuse. I have not heard them, but Tweek geek is an honest dealer.
Hi - I'm new here and registered to ask a DIY cable question, but the new QSA's are no joke. The Black and Light Blue versions have excellent performance for the price. I have not heard the Yellow or higher end versions.
I own/have owned Hifi Tuning Supreme3 - both silver and copper versions, SR Blue, and SR Orange.
they are very good indeed. i have 4 of the 'yellow' fuses and will be upgrading 2 of them soon..Michael at Tweek Geek is great to work with..
What is the difference between the yellow and orange? Is it a physical difference, or the overall treatment?
Alan..do not believe there is an orange fuse..red yes..yellow...purple...red/black special order..i have 4 of the yellow fuses in play..one on my Innuos PheonixNet..1 on my Lumin X1...and 2 ...1 each in my Monoblock SETs..the improvemen has been amazing...so much so that my wife said sunday after i installed the fuse in my Lumin that she didnt want me to change anything else because the system sounded so good...i had to agree with her..
Thanks Dave....I trust your ears, as always.
Synergistic Research - I am particularly fond of the Orange.
