An old subject, BGT...
Should I replace battery, yearly or so?
I realize "nothing lasts forever, but to my
understanding their is no "drain" on this circuit...?
thanks

Has any one blind tested the BGT lately? I need to, I may be suffering from a placebo....thanks for everyone's input.

I check mine with a voltmeter to determine if the battery still has a charge. I am using the 6V lantern battery version. The batteries still have a 6V charge even after over 5 years of use.
To my experience the 9V battery last (at least) to it's exp. date. In one of "Unclestu" posts here he said, that the BGT only needs power to load the capacitors (about 1 hour), after that there is no draw, as only the negative is connected.
Normally 9V alkaline batteries have long shelf life, bought from new it is about 4-5 years.

If i understand what you said, is that you could charge the cap in an hour or so, then remove battery, and don't discharge the cap.
I Have the battery hooked up constantly now....any detrimental effects do you think?
thanks
Battery is connected permanently.

it can't charge anything. And nothing can drain it.
