Are any speaker drivers made in the USA at this point in time or are they all just assembled here with parts made in China / Taiwan? I see that supposedly Omega Speakers uses made in the USA drivers, Radian, etc. Question is are they basically assembling them in the USA as opposed to actually having the components made here, materials USA origin, etc? What about Visaton, made in Germany or China? Ger.
Follow Ups:
I read this query 24 hours ago, and upon rereading it I have decided to respond.Exactly what would one consider made in the USA?
Does copper mined offshore and made into wire here count as made in the USA?
Is lacquer that coats voice coils have to come from beetles indigenous to the USA?
Does wood pulp for making paper cones have to come from trees grown in the USA?
Would silk for surrounds have to come from USA silkworms?
Would lead and silver used for solder has to be mined in the USA?
Would Gold used for some connectors have to come from ore sourced in the USA?I would think most synthetics such as steel; aluminum; carbon fiber; glues; polyesters used for vinyl, paints, plastics, polystyrene, polyurethane, etc. most likely would be USA sourced.
We live in a global economy. USA companies source materials from all over the world. The dominance the USA had in any number of industries post World War II just doesn't apply in the 21st century. The angst some have expressed here regarding East Asian products is short-sighted at best. I recall in the mid-20th century when made in Japan was chided as cheap. Twenty years later their products were considered state of the art. Time waits for no man!
On the other hand, if you want to know what companies are owned or headquartered in the USA - that yields an entirely different answer.
YMMV

the GPA 515 LF is imop, a great bass speaker... their other drivers too...
Plus 1 for GPA.
A matter of preference, no?
Wilson Audio uses Scan Speak drivers which are made in Denmark
Are you referring to speakers, or drivers?
this is a good topic and some people like yourself may want to know when considering a purchase. 'Made' can mean assembled from parts made in other countries. Years ago it most likely would be US but not anymore. It would be nice to know, like excellent Japan capacitors or the worst example - Chinese transformers labeled 110volt inside the chassis and sure to give problems. The only way I know is to email the website and ask the questions there. A common response is designed in ( ), from parts made in ( ) and assembled in ( )It's very rare to find most anything entirely made in America these days.

Rare Earth Minerals are not mined in the United States. You are not asking the right question.
Also, who really wants a speaker that is entirely made in the United States? Asia and Europe make the best speakers today.
Try finding an automobile today with ALL parts made in the US.
Asia and Europe make the best automobiles today.
