Has anyone had found good vibration control in the Industrial/Commercial Supply chain?
There are lots of options depending upon what you aim is-
From Optical tables (for developing Laser based instruments) bases for analytical balances / scales; Instrument/Microscope bases/platforms -
The linky is from the biotech/science industry-
Interesting stuff here. Not cheap.
I've got two or three of those items in my lab at work, for use under delicate balances, as shown in some of the photos. Most of them (probably excepting that marble table, which must cost a fortune) are not suitable to support the weight of a typical quality turntable (which is why I once looked into purchasing for personal use). Also, most of that stuff can probably be bought used off eBay, but be careful to match the weight capacity to the weight of the component you want to isolate. The specs are engraved on a plaque attached to the support, typically.
Herzan air suspended tables are a world better and also available off eBay at relatively cheap prices.
The keyword here is Biotech ie... very expensive!!!!!
Yes... we're talking grant money here.
I bet this gear is for real!
but... If you can find this stuff for salvage on Ebay... pennies on the dollar.
There's a thread here somewhere about these; I think they're fairly popular.

Herzan makes the MinusK for us audiophiles (I think) but also makes huge industrial isolation devices that work on the same principle. I believe that the Vibraplane has a similar origin. In other words, the commercial/industrial devices are sort of big brothers to the best audio devices. (I may be wrong about who makes what audio device, but the basic notion is as stated.)
