How effective and safe is Novus 1 as a CD/DVD cleaner? It is quite a bit more price friendly than Shi-Nola.
Follow Ups:
I like the Zaino Plastic Magic. Bought it for my car, then on a whim used it on one of my son's X-Box discs that was fingerprinted to death, scratched up and wouldn't read. Cleaned it with the Zaino, and the disc lived again. I tried it on a few CD's (not dirty or scratched), and I think there was some minor improvement, though I wouldn't risk a blind test on it. Didn't make them sound any worse, to be sure.
Brillianize is very good for improving sound. It and Novus 1 are non abrassive and should be no problem. Novus 2 is my go to for scratched skipping cd's.

I've tried Novus 1, but ultimately I came to prefer Shine Ola or, even better, Digital Systems & Solutions' Clean Disc Plus, which has been my favorite pure CD cleaner for a few years now.
This is a public service announcement . . . WITH GUITARS!!!
My preferred CD cleaner/polish is Brillianize.

Mobile Fidelity's Shine-Ola is very gentle and gives a subtle sonic upgrade... I use it on all my SACD's...
Lloyd Walker has a good product, if you are looking for a CD cleaner...

Many different products on the market, just decide what you want it to do and your price point...A CD enhancer or a CD cleaner...
