Do i solder the ground to the case ? Do I leave the shielding alone? and just leave the end in the CDP un-connected.

If you get a cable with a drain wire you could attach the drain to the ground lug at the plug end. this would in effect let the sheild drain any RFI picked up to the ground and away from you CDP.
If you are talking about an aftermarket power cord for your CD player having three leads, I would not attach the third (ground) lead of the power cord to anything, only attach the other two. Tape the exposed metal end of the lead with electrical tape and leave unattached.
