OK, first question: I have some silver-coated copper, teflon insulated, 28 AWG Belden wire at my disposal. Would adding this to the outside of a pair of Monster ic's help them? Or should I use the RCA's from the Monsters, braid some of this Belden wire, and make my own ic's? Or should I trash it altogether?Second question: I bought a Monster HTS700 conditioner/protector. I did not notice much of an audible differece at first install. But it does filter out the noise coming from a small flourescent fixture on the same circuit. Should there be a noticable audible difference using a c/p, or will it be subtle as in the presentation of certain frequencies? Has anyone compared this model c/p to any others? feedback?
Third question: Is there a noticable audible difference in A/C power cords? What is the difference in construction, and what makes one better than the other?
My system is exclusively CD playback audio, 2-channel stereo.
thanks for any helpful hints!

Power cords - unfortunately some are very good and others suck. One I had great luck with is the Shunyata Sidewinder - on my power amp. But that said, some equipment is less affected than other. Try before you buy and don't assume a super expensive one is that much better.Regarding power filters, these are hit and miss. I'm not surprised regarding your findings with the sound being flat with the Monster. Put better outlets in, like Leviton Hospital grades for under 10 bucks each. Check the link below and basically, trust your ears.

There is a difference in power cables. I dont know why - other
than the obvious things like wire gauge, construction materials,
copper quailty, etc. - but there is. If you want to test this
for yourself, you can do this: substitute a heavier wire
gauge power cord for one you are using now - say a 14 ga.
to replace an 18 ga. cord. You should notice some difference.
Next, replace the plug on the power cord with a better
quality plug - Pass and Seymour 5266X is a good replacement
plug. And you should notice some more difference. Next
thing, you might be buying expensive power cords or making
your own. I am starting to make my own. Good luckMike
What brand/type of wire are you making your cords out of? Cardas makes supply cords. Are they overpriced, or worth the $$$?BTW, I took the HTS700 conditioner/protector out of the picture yesterday, and the vocals on my Nat King Cole cd seemed to get more 3 dimensional. I plan on listening without the conditioner for a while, then go back to see how much of a difference it makes. If it is noticable, I will most likely pursue AC supply as my next tweak.
thanks...
