If you want something that is effective for room treatment, try the Skyline device that consists of randomly arranged surfaces of various depths. This device is designed to break up the (coherent) reflection wave at rear wall, behind listener. It is very effective, and does not have any of the side effects of sonex or room tune panels. The skyline device can be replicated as a DIY project with a little effort, but at 99 bucks or so for the real thing, why bother.

Diffussors are good for certain applications, but so far, using JUST diffussors does not seem to do the job as well as a mixture of absorbers and diffussors.See the last part of my DIY Acoustics note for info on diffussors:

yes, i will go along with you there; after a long period of time and much futzing around, i wound up using a combination of diffusion, absorption, and reflection, including a wide variety of helmholtz resonators...
