Good for you! I have found the same thing. I KNOW that normal diodes and the diode bridges that are made from them have big problems with audio AC at 60 Hz. This can be measured. I really comes down to trying different types and finding out what works best, subjectively. So far, Hexfreds and Harris diodes work very well. I am always open to new additions.
