I'd like to get some nice metal cones to replace the factory plastic feet on my Pioneer Elite DVL-91 LD/CD player. The problem is that the factory feet are attached to the player by a single sheet metal screw (#6, if anyone cares)that runs up through a hole in the center of the foot into the chassis.
This player is a very complicated machine, and I can't remove enough internal parts to make it safe enough to drill out the mounting holes for bolts, larger screws, etc. Therefore, I'd like to find some sort of cone that had a #6 or #8 threaded stud protruding out the top, so I could replace the current feet while reusing the factory holes.
Audio Advisor lists "Mitchell Tenderfeet", which APPEAR to have small diameter studs, but I can't find any definate specs. Anyone know what size studs or threaded holes they have?
Michael Percy's catalog lists "Audio Points" brass cones with #6 and #10 threads. Anybody used these? Are they good?
Thanks for your help!
Allan
Don't know if you wanna go this route, but I wanted to add cones to the power supply of my AI Mod 3A preamp. Rather than drill the case, I just fastened them with a small (eg thin) piece of blu-tak. They've been in place for two years now.
The Blu-Tak is also lossy and I would recommend its use between cone and component even with a screw. Try this first, especially since it's *really* cheap.
