I am going to build some outboard crossovers for my B&W 802 series III speakers and I was wondering if there are any websites dedicated to this. If any inmates have done this, I would love to compare notes. I am particularly interested in the DCR ratings of the inductors that they use, so I can make the switch over to air core inductors. Thanks.Regards,
Dave F.
A number of Maggie 1.6 owners have built external XO's. What we found to our surprise was the large damaging effect of having dense dielectrics close to the caps and inductorsCheck the web site below under the headings "Decisions" and "External"
Northcreek makes xovers for the 802's but no do-it-yourself tips. They cost $1600+
You could try out the following web site for info.http://www.northcreekmusic.com/801web.html
Welcome to the 'lets try to get blood from a stone brigade'... I own a pair of P4s' that judging by the manufacturors spec parts are dying for a complete ugrade, however on approaching B + W they were VU (very unhelpful...).
I have yet to find out from other sources (I have an insider at B + W) what these values are....So rant over (boy they make my blood BOIL)... does a kind helpful soul out there (Thorsten) know how to determine these characteristics using a multimeter..??
All assistance greatfully recieved..
