No, the Focal's sound "true". snip..they do NOT "nice up" things like most Softdomes do.I'll second that.. I use titanium domes and they are pretty "alive" but at least cymbals sound like cymbals and that is generally not pretty, anyone who has suffered while playing with a drummer up close with loads of cymbals knows that these things sting..chinese (those inverted things that look like a plate) hurt..
You mean the Chinese gongs?Michael
Hi,WHAT are you talking about?
The Chinese cymbals Joost refers to are regular cymbals with a different shape; they are folded stronger than regular cymbals, with a about 90 degree angles folded bell and even _folded upside_ with a less great angle along the rim- talking in terms of usual cymbals.
An apparent difference between them and other cymbals is they are usually mounted reversed not to damage the margin that would point up to your sticks. By "reverse mounting" they can be played on the bent rimside
Excuse my... English
Anyway they sound strange because they have non harmonic vibrations, as their folded shape suggests. I have not heard many, because the guys who sell cymbals in Germany are very touchy.
But Joost-I donīt think they sound all this bad- stop playing this hardcore stuff- you will hurt your ears!Philipp
