I hope that you are enjoying your new digital incon, and the design is interesting... (have you carried out any impedance measurements on it??)WRT the screen, it should be connected at ONE end only, but IMO, you will find the sound will 'close in' a bit... experiment with orientation of the screen connection (source end or target end), to determine the directionality of the cable... the difference is usually stark.
personally, I do not use shields at all, and have had no problems with interference (transmitted or recieved) because I use twisted pairs almost exclusively (they are inherently good at rejecting interference without requiring a shield)

no, i didn't measure the impedance, not yet
OK, i'll connect just one end, just as i've been doing with
my diy power cables, then experiment pluging it both ways
also, i'll replace the cheap rcas by top end ones
i'll post again when measured and improved
