The change in value in 6dB filter from 25 to 27 uF should have absolutely no effect on the tweeter loudness, but the quality may be so much better that you hear more hi frequencies, the sound opened so much.If you want to be perfect, add a resistor in PARALELL with the hi section that is calculated like that: 10 x impedance of the hi section. This will put the xo point back where it was.
Then listen for at least 2 weeks. If after accomodation you still do not like the bright sound, add a resistor in series - like advised by Tazsmonn.Lukasz
Just curious about what exactly would be the effect of resistor in parallel
My understanding is to wire one end of the resistor to the tweeters(+) and the other to the (-).What would be the effect since normally they would seperated and same thing will occur if you put a resistor between them.Am I right on this?
Yes, wire the resistor to plus and minus of the tweeter - this is to achieve the same frequency of cutoff as it was before the cap was changed.
A bigger cap "seing" a lower impedance will cut off at the same frequency.I find this mod unnecessary and I only said "do it" if you really feel the itch to be perfect.
